What is a transfer case part?

A transfer case part is a part of the drivetrain of a front-wheel or four-wheel drive; usually they’re seen in four-wheel drive vehicles. There’s a transfer between front and rear axles that splits the torque differently. If you need more power in the front or back of your vehicle, you can switch back and forth with a transfer case part.

BorgWarner (BW) is known for its powertrain products, such as transmissions, clutches, and, of course, transfer case parts. The BW1350 and the BW1354 are most similar. They are 3-piece aluminum part-time transfer cases, and both transfer power from the transmission to the rear axle, and the front-drive axle when actuated. The BW1350 has a splined front receiver that accepts a driveshaft with a splined slip yoke, and the BW1354 has a yoke on the front that accepts a driveshaft with a U-joint.
