Shims act as spacers between closely packed gears. They prevent metal-on-metal friction between gears on the same shaft, and help align gear teeth to those on opposing gears. Worn shims cause misalignment that leads to poor shifting and transmission noise. This kit includes all the shims you need to rebuild the input shaft and countershaft.
