Ford ZF 6-Speed Short-Throw Shifter Kits

Even though you’re driving a truck, you can still make it more engaging to drive. Install this Ford short-throw shifter, and you’ll shorten the distance needed to change gears, increasing feel while allowing faster shifts. This short-throw shifter works by changing the fulcrum point of the shift lever, keeping the knob at the same height as the stock shifter.

The 7.3 ZF6 kit on this page is compatible with the manual transmission used on 7.3-liter diesel Ford trucks built between 1999 and 2003. This includes the F250, F350 and F450. Our ZF6 short shifter kit has everything needed for installation, including a spacer, bushings and bolts.

I saw a lot of talk in forums about the rubber boots tearing on install. I bought an extra for this reason. I now have an extra because anyone who complains about this needs to learn a thing or two about lubrication. I used a little bit of coconut oil on the rubber boots and any sharp sections of the shifter and everything fit like a dream. The stick is way tighter than before and it’s much easier to hit your desired gear. I highly recommend this upgrade!

Installed this in my 99 f250, shortens the shift substantially. Only 2 complaints is the side to side bushings are a little stiff. Im sure they will wear in overtime. The shift towered is raised from the spacer making the outer boot a little tight (my plastic bezel that goes around the boot is broken so it floats off the carpet allowing engine noise in. Easy fix though. 1000miles on it so far and its doing good.

5 of 5 WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! April 29, 2024

I own an E99 F-350. I run a mobile welding service and I am running upwards of 20,000-25,000 miles per year just for my business. I also tow a 40ft toy hauler(22,000lbs loaded), a 35ft gooseneck and a 25ft flatbed. The stock shift throw on this felt like a yard long. When you pull the kind of weight that I do, you can't have a long sloppy shift throw!! I was looking for a short throw shifter that wasn't too pricey but well made and I found it right here at all state gear.  Cheezus Crimoney!! It's really set a world apart from the stock setup. It's almost like driving a muscle car! (Almost) Great kit, easy to install (30 min) and now it's not like you're shifting gears with a wet noodle. P. S it doesn't matter where you buy the little black boot from they are fragile.  Just take your time putting it on and soak it in hot water for 20 min before you do. Thanks for making my truck fun to drive again!
