SM645 Bearing Repair/Replacement Kits
The Muncie SM465 four-speed, heavy-duty transmission was a product of General Motors and installed in its light-duty and medium-duty trucks (1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1+ ton) between 1968-1991. It was used in GMC and Chevy full-sized trucks, including Suburbans and Blazers, among others. It's a well-respected, well-built, durable transmission. This is a transmission that off-road drivers love due to its very low compound granny gear of 6.55:1, which makes it ideal for rock crawling. It has power take-off (PTO) ports on both sides of the case. While some mistakenly believe that the “SM” in the SM465 designation stands for “synchro mesh,” it actually stands for “Saginaw Muncie.”
SM465 transmissions made between 1968 and 1988 featured a cast-iron top cover, while those made between 1988 and 1991 had an aluminum top cover. If you're ordering
